yo darkangel, and if I haven't said it already, welcome to the forums ;D In reference to your question, I think it's definately not an easy one to answer since it's a matter of opinion. If you want something 'fairly' inexpensive, then Magix is the way to go, 50$, and you get a pretty powerful editing software. If you want something a little more powerful, then you get into the more expensive softwares, Vegas and Premiere among the most popular and it's debated as to which is better. They both have their own unique features and templates, and both are significantly more difficult to get used to than simpler programs such as WMM. If you really want to look into these programs (especially before you fork out the 100+ dollars :/ ) then I believe both Vegas and Premiere offer trial versions, where you can tinker around with it and see which you prefer. *cough cough* and of course, you could always download them, thus avoiding the whole, spending money thing, but you didn't hear that from me Finally, one more I wanted to add is Adobe After Effects, now this program is for truly serious editors. It has an incredibly sharp learning curve, and, as I'm told, very difficult to use. The upside is that you can get incredibly precise edits, and some very insane effects. It's usually used in conjucntion with premiere, especially when people will make edits in premiere, then spruce it up with after effects. I think that's really all I can say about these, there are other companies that will offer editing software, but these are definately the most well-known, I guess if you want more info, check out the Video Editing Programs thread, and you'll see what programs people use, and there's a bit of advice there too Anyway, hope this helped, [Kristyrat]

Bah, the link for Vegas isn't working, so I'll post the link to SonyStyle and you can find Vegas under Movies Music and Games >> Media Editing Software >> Video Editing Again, I hope this helped [Kristyrat]

Well, this is unfortunately not one of my speciaties, lol, my first suggestion would be to not use downloaded footage or fansubs, but again, that required spending money (or getting RAWs). Anyway, I know Rina does a lot of this, so I'll try to jab her in the direction of this thread, and she'll prolly be able to help you out [Kristyrat]

If I haven't welcomed you yet, welcome to our forum. I'm Gene Starwind 21122 and I've been currently editing for a little over 3 years now.
Well I think Kristyrat covered it all. Priemer and Vegas are somewhat expensive to buy. I would say diffidently download the trials then go buy which ever one you like better. Just save up money. Walk the local dogs, do car washes, mow neighbors lawn. That's what I did when I was about your age to get what I wanted. Or even deliever a local newspaper. I'm not trying to sound sarcastic. Seriously though I'd recommend Priemer but I haven't used Vegas before.

Oh one more thang is it avilble in stores?. The editing software? As far as I know, Best Buy or Future Shop should carry them, if not, they could probably order it. But yeah, check those, or any other computer hardware/software store, they will most likely have it, or at least be able to help you. [Kristyrat]

Alrighty, Rina is speaking through me (as it were ) and she says there's not much she can tell you that would be better than this guide. It's made by some fairly well-known editors, and should be able to help you out. [Kristyrat]

good job kristyrat, u found the rite guide =P lmao.. theres nuttin wrote wit downloading programs if you can't afford them ( i mean if you don't sell them and make money of them lmao) but you didn't hear that from me either =D vegas has it's own built in filter to crop subs, but if you can't aquire it, i suggest the first method in that guide, cropping in vdub. it's virtually painless... as for final product... well better than subs lol

If you are talking about vdub, you can get it online for free. If you guys were talking about virtualdubmod there it is. Amv.org also has a list of useful softwares you can use which should be free.
