if you like quanity for your dollar:
Fruits Basket they fit all 26 eps onto four DVDs. much better then buying seven of 'em.
Excel Saga: Imperfect Boxset i dunno how much it was supposed to be, but i picked up the whole boxset for only $50 at Best Buy one time. The lowest i've ver seen a box set for new.
Ebay sorry, had to throw that one in.

Yeah, Lain is quite good to get, only 50$ and 13 good episodes.
Berserk is a good boxset to get to, also quiet cheap at like 75$ and 25 episodes of great medieval anime.
Escaflowne, though I haven't bought it myself, is also a good boxset at like 50$ for 9 DVDs (8 DVDs are the series, the last one is the movie)
Golden boy is cheap, I actually got the two DVDs for less then the price ONE would be.

The Devil Lady collection is really good to get. I think it has the whole series on maybe 5 DVDs. That's good for series with almost 30 eps.

Boogie Pop Phantom Box set, depending on which edition you get, you can get it for about $40-50.
And in the deluxe Box set that usually costs around $50(got mine for $45), you get all 13 episodes on 4 discs, 2 CDs(1 of the soundtrack, and the other is music inspired by the series), 2 pencil boards, and some kind of odd cards that have pictures from the series on it, and all in a very nice and stylish box. Not to mention the series is really good too^^
I would also reccomend the Hand Maid May Box set, and the Burn Up excess Box set.

With all these thin pack coming out you can get an entire series for 40-60 bucks. It almost worth it to wait till the thin packs comeout.
